Dr Seuss for kids

I grew up on Dr Seuss and bought many Dr Seuss books for my son I was reading 1 fish 2 fish red fish blue fish last night to my boy and my busband was like thats such a silly book why not read him something that actually used real english words or makes sense. I was like oh no you diint lol but Im curious anybody think reading dr seuss with his weird made up words to my baby will inhibit his english language abilities? Tia.
