Lifeguards
I'm currently training to be a lifeguard, and honestly watching all these real life videos of kids dying because parents are like "oh it's whatever" and they, one, don't watch their kids, and two, don't put them in a life vest and blame life guards for not catching every little thing. It makes me so sad. Not yet even being on the water I feel what a lifeguard has to go through everyday. Right when you stand up by that pool, it is your duty to save a life. If you don't save that life, you will be sued and you will be held responsible for the life of a child. That shit is hard when there's a lot of other people in the pool with distractions and kids splashing everywhere. ANYTHING could be a potential drowning, and the public doesn't realize that. My whole class watched up close videos of lifeguards saving people in the wave pool. We were tested to raise our hand to theoretically jump in the water to save a kid, and if the kid wasn't the one that was drowning, we put our hand on our head. It took me 44 seconds to find one kid drowning and it only takes 30 for someone to go unconscious. It's a BIG deal. I'm so stressed out for my first day. All I'm hoping is that parents force their kids to wear life vests and I will stop any kid from playing rough. Don't blame the life guard in every situation if you haven't even theoretically been in that position to "save a life." It's scary and I had to stop myself from crying. Don't blame the lifeguard every time if you know that life guard is watching the water the best they can. It's the parents fault too. Sorry, I just wanted to relieve some stress. Everyone pray that I pass my test 😂
