Is it pathetic that my husband (25yo) has his mommy apply to jobs for him?

We both make the same about of money, we are doing okay. But he has the potential to make a lot more, he's been at his current employer for about 4 years. They don't pay enough or have good benefits but he likes it because it's 5 minutes from the house. We're both working full time but with a 3yo and baby due in October I'd like to cut back at work therefore it's time for him to step up. He is plenty capable but his mom has to apply to jobs for him because he's just too lazy or doesn't know how....? Idk his excuse but it's unacceptable to me. I've never gotten a hand out and have worked for all I have.
