Should I add bumpers?

My husband and I bought this bassinet for our boy, I was planning o putting on bumpers since it's the mattress only but I heard they're dangerous!!! What should I do? What is used in this cases?

It should be fine as is, but if you are worried they make mesh bumper guards.

Since its a bassinet and the baby should be moved to the crib once they can roll/sit up I wouldn't bother. You can get the mesh bumpers for the crib however. That's what I have.

They are not recommended bc of smothering but I have also read that it prohibits good air flow and is a huge SIDS risk, I didn't use them with my first and won't be using them this time around either.

Personally I would. My son is 5 months old and every time he wakes up I find him on his belly kicking the railing and if I didn't have a bumper his poor little feets would of gotten caught!

They're not recommended when babies can roll. But before your ok as long as you don't place baby near them(within face touching distance

in my baby class I took before baby 1, the teacher said they're a sids hazard and completely unnecessary anyway. my mil made some for us so we used them when she was too little to move around and then took them out and never used them again... I don't think they're necessary unless your baby has a habit of sticking arms and legs through the bars a lot... :)

I didn't put bumpers up at first , but was contemplating it until my lil guy arched his back so far one day that when he relaxed his neck, his nose was stuck against the bars... It freaked me out realizing how he could have suffocated if there were bumpers on and I didn't see him ... However, my guy is a mover and would stick his limbs out between the bars , constantly getting stuck ... I put up a mesh bumper from babies r us and it solved my issues

Fine as is. My big boy is 10 months a total maniac and bumpers still aren't needed.

I wouldn't do bumpers. If baby has issues, consider mesh ones. But I wouldn't do them at all. Not necessary or safe.
