Ever Had Bariatric Surgery?

I've struggled with weight for most of my life, but it has never affected my mobility or (until recently) my health. During a routine check-up yesterday, my doctor suggested I look into bariatric surgery. I don't know how I feel about this. I never thought of myself as a candidate for that type of procedure. I've done some research, and I plan on furthering my knowledge even more. I suppose I'm just wondering if anyone has had bariatric surgery and can clue me in on on what kind you had, what the recovery was like, etc.
