Ovulating pain

I'm on day 11 of my cycle so just entered my ovulating window. This morning I woke up with a cramping pain on my lower right hand side. I've never had this before has anyone else? I'm wondering if it's possible that it's an egg being released? Has anyone ever experienced this? Or am I looking for signs that an egg has been released because I don't always release an egg ???
