Paleo while breastfeeding?

Has anyone done paleo while breastfeeding and was it successful? Just wondering if it's something I could do once the baby is born

We do loose Paleo (team white rice and occasional dairy), I'm also currently marathon training. I'm at 7.5 months breastfeeding and still going strong. Just eat enough and drink enough! I always have a big breakfast, and I don't really deny myself if I'm hungry. I always have a protein shake and extra hydration after I workout. A couple Paleo bloggers/authors have tips for modifications while breastfeeding or pregnant.

I got roped into the whole30 when my baby was 6 months. After a struggle with supply and breastfeeding, it took a toll on my supply. I went from pumping 7 oz/day to like 1.5 oz/day. I know hydrating and calorie intake play a huge factor, too- which I couldn't keep up with on such a restricted diet. On a positive note, I lost more than just baby weight, and am smaller (and hopefully healthier) now than I've been in years.

I have no experience with that (yet) but from what I understand you just need to make sure you're getting enough calories to keep your milk supply up. As long as you are getting enough paleo approved fats, it shouldn't be hard to get the calories. My version of paleo also allows for sweet potatoes (if if you're a little more lenient - white potato varieties) so that helps with calorie intake as well. I wouldn't recommend a strict veggie and protein only diet.

Paleo is fine to do while breastfeeding. Just be sure you have well balanced meals, high fiber and protein for energy.
You need about 1800-2200 calories while breastfeeding to maintain a good supply.
