On Monday I had a routine appointment, at which the doctor thought my baby was measuring small, so he sent me for an ultrasound scheduled for this past Friday (July 15th) morning. Upon the completion of said ultrasound, they determined that my baby had stopped growing 5 weeks ago, as a result of placenta defects; as well, there was almost no amniotic fluid left. As such, they decided to admit me and induce me for the safety of the baby. After 9 hours of contractions every 30 seconds, and only having dialated 4cm, and having the baby's heart beat dip significantly before every contraction, they decided it was too risky to continue that way and prepped me for c-section. The c-section went smoothly and baby is perfectly healthy and developed - just small. He weighed in at 4lbs 6ounces, and measured at 18 inches. Welcome to the world, little Obi!
