My bf and his family put their toilet paper in the trash can instead of flushing it down the toilet... To me it's unsanitary.. Lol anyone else do this? Please comment lol

Some people have poor plumbing iand rather not make it worse by clogging the toilet. Especially if on an island. My husband's family and most of his friends were born and raised on Puerto Rico and do that. I thought it was weird until they explained it to me. But even here in the NYS they still do it lol. Only unsanitary if you go putting your hand in there lol

It's very common in other countries. I studied abroad in Bolivia and was instructed to throw toilet paper in the trash because it is very easy to clog the pipes.

It is the norm in both Taiwan and Korea. It is because of the plumbing. Hard to get used to though.

My husband does it because the house he grew up in if you flushed it it would clog the septic tank. After two years I'm still having a hard time breaking him of that habit. It's disgusting.

I knew quite a few people who ha e a septic tank and they flush their toilet paper. Never had a oroblem

Well I am in the country and don't have town sewage.  I flush toilet paper but can't flush anything else like tampons.
