No food by 2050?

Do you think the prediction of the earth having a severe food shortage by 2050 is real?

It wouldn't shock me.

The way we over produce plant foods and overbreed animals, then just throw out something like 40% of our food products shows how much we actually waste.

Add overpopulation of humans (7 billion people and counting!), a food shortage seems inevitable in the near future unless we try to find a solution.

I don't think it's unreasonable to say that at all. I do believe there are technologies being developed to help sustain the growing population but I don't know if they'll be ready in time.
