My very unexpected birth story.
My OB decided to schedule for me to be induced at 39 weeks. So Sunday evening (07/17) I headed to the hospital. My husband and I arrived and got all checked in. The nurse checked me and my cervix was already thinned and I was dilated 2 centimeters. Everything was looking great and the next step was to start me on pitocin at six the next morning. I began contracting all night, 2 to 4 minutes apart, except I wasn't feeling them at all. They started my pitocin at six and my contractions got closer together, and I still wasn't feeling any of them. I started to feel ill. I started shivering I was so cold and I was nauseous. Within two hours my fever had gone from 98.7 degrees to 101.3, they gave me Tylenol and anti nausea medicine. The doctor came in and broke my water and my baby had had her first bowel movement inside of my belly. The doctor left and the medicine they gave me was making me feel so out of it. The next thing I remember is nurses rushing in talking about my babe's heart rate. It spiked to 200 then dropped to 80, and was continuing to drop. My fever was at 103.2 at this point. They immediately prepped me and took me to do an emergency c section, and I was put under general anesthesia. I don't remember anything else until I was waking up in the room and my husband had our girl in his arms. She was born with a fever as well. I finally got to hold her for a couple minutes!! The next thing I know is they are now taking my sweet baby to the NICU because her sugars are continuing to drop, even after her eating.
My Charlotte May was born at 11:14 am on 07/18/16 weighing 8 pounds 9 ounces and 19 inches long. She's perfect.
