Pains in stomach.

My girlfriend is 4 weeks 3 days pregnant and has been having pains on the side of her stomach. We belive it is gas due to her not being able to use the bathroom regularly. I have two questions for some tips, direction and advice please. 1. Is this normally and possibly just gas? 2. What can she do/eat to help go to the bathroom without hurting the baby? I know the doctors cannot do much till 6 weeks so this is why I'm posting this. Please help.

Also, I am not sure if this is for women only but this app is amazing and every guy should be reading this awesome information.
