Full custody

Does anybody know how i can get full custody of my child in California? I truly hate my sons father. He hardly does anything for him physically and financially. I wouldnt take the right for him to see his child but i dont want for him one day to take me to court to ask for half custody and we have to share him. I want to decide the days he gets to see him. If anyone can help i would really appreciate it!
