I've never been to the gynecologist, I'm 18 when should I go? Is it super important?

I've just never been and people always tell me "you should get a check up" and I agree but I just am scared of doctors offices especially a Gynecologist, idk what they do there? Has anyone else not been to one yet?

17 and never have. Despite being active now. I probably won't until I move out and am like.. 20 something honestly. I just don't go to doctors,

I've always been told you should go when you start being sexually active. I just went to my first appointment last year and I was so nervous. But the doctor who did it was so great, it isn't as bad as you think it is!

I went in for my regular physical at my doctors office last month. I'm 19 and sexually active and she still told me that I did not have to see a gynecologist until I turned 21. She said it used to be as soon as you started being sexually active, but now it's 21. So rest easy girl, you still have a couple of years!

Also, it's nothing to be freaked out about. Yes, someone is going to look at your vagina, but it's to make sure your healthy. And you can always request a girl when you make your first appointment.

When you become sexually active or turn 21. They don't normally do Pap smears until 21.
