will birth control effect me?

so im on birth control but i messed alot of days this past month. its been a stressful month. i was having sex tho . now im 3 days late for my period. i dont think im pregnant but im one of those that pay close attention to there body and worry when something is off . anyways if i am pregnant with my pills hurt me ? i took a test 2 days before i missed my period and it said negative. but should i keep taken my pills or wait till actually get my period.
