How did you choose your doctor?

I wanted to go with a doctor at the hospital 5 minutes from my house, but when I called they told me that you see all 5 doctors there throughout your pregnancy-they refuse to keep you with the same one. 
This really rubbed me the wrong way. Don't you want to develop a relationship with your patients?
So anyways I decided to go to a doctor at the hospital in the town I work in half an hour away from home. It has a little bit of a better reputation anyway, so hopefully it will work out! First appt is Aug 2nd!
I wanted to ask friends where they have gone, but not ready to tell anyone yet as I am only 6 weeks.

That is one of the reasons why I chose to have a midwife deliver our baby, but still in a hospital setting. Our midwife is part of an OBGYN practice and affiliated with our hospital, but she takes on less patients than doctors and really gets to know you, and spend time with you answering all our questions, etc.

You should look into midwifery if you want a relationship with the person who will deliver your baby 💕

Most people I've asked say to choose the hospital that aligns with the birth experience you want. You will hardly see your OB during most of your labor.

I had my doctor with my last pregnancy. Even though I got to her too late. When I miscarried she called and check on me and everything. She was so sweet! Plus her nurse is also amazing as well. Now the drive is 45 but, it's worth it.

I chose one based on what hospital they delivered at. I wanted a place that is responsible with Pitocin, let's you walk, change positions and labor in the tub, and choose how you deliver. I also have a doula and I wanted one doula-friendly and that will support no epidural if I choose not to have one. I am a labor and delivery nurse so I would never deliver anywhere other than a hospital but I am VERY picky on the hospital and I don't want one that pits your baby out so they can make their 5 o'clock tee time.

I picked the one closest to my house. I live in a super high end area currently so I decided to go for it and they just so happened to accept my insurance. It was a shot in the dark but I really like my doctor. And my ultrasounds can be done in office which I'm noticing not all places do. I have 3 friends who are pregnant and all of them have to go to a separate place for ultrasounds. I'm wishing you luck!
