Sushi?🍣🍣🍣🍣

Question

Is it okay to have sushi while pregnant ? I'm 13 weeks. & I was absolutely craving it and got California rolls and the other two seemed to look like spicy tuna or spicy salmon wth veggies in them. 
Is that okay? Freaking out now. Haven't ate any sushi other than this. Just don't want to harm baby

My husband and I went out for sushi tonight (I'm 12 weeks). I plan to limit it to once a month or so, but I won't be cutting it out entirely. However, I will be very selective in what and where I eat.

One of the big concerns is true for any raw meats - contamination like Listeria, E Coli, or Salmonella. I'm only going to eat sushi at a reputable restaurant to try to limit those risks, though I understand the only way to avoid them is to avoid raw meat and other associated foods entirely.

The other concern is Mercury. I love spicy tuna rolls, but they are off the menu right now. I look for fish that are low in Mercury and high in DHA to protect my baby the best I can.

Ultimately, it's a personal choice and a question of how much risk you are comfortable in taking.

I wouldn't risk eating anything raw. You can always get vegetarian or cooked sushi though.

I was told by my obgyn the cooked sushi is fine. California roll shrimp crunch roll the ones like this are fine.  He said no raw like salmon or white fish tuna etc.  Hope that helps

I ate sushi with my first born and now this baby with no problems. My doctor said you would have to eat TONS of it in order to get mercury in your system.

As long as you make sure it's not raw your good!! That is my number 1 craving in this pregnancy

I've had sushi probably about 5 times and I mean aloooottt of sushi... Each time we went to a sushi buffet ... I might get a couple raw rolls maybe like a tuna or something but I try to go more on the cooked side like California roll,volcano roll, and  shrimp tempura roll most places have a ton of deep fried sushi options too. Its okay in moderation(:

Try to avoid raw tuna / yellow tail. I was told salmon is okay in moderation
