Fetal Echogenic Focus

Melissa
At my 20 week sonogram with my daughter, they noticed what they called an echogenic Focus. It is s bright spot that they notice on the baby's heart. They weren't concerned and said that most of the time it goes away by the time they are born. When my daughter was born, we brought it up to the pediatrician and she recommended getting an echo done to ease our mind that nothing is wrong and the echogenic focus went away.
The dr called me yesterday with my daughters results (she's 5 weeks old now) and said that she has a small PFO. A PFO is a hole on the heart that all babies have before they are born to help circulate blood and oxygen throughout their bodies. The hole closes shortly after the child is born. My ped said that most one month olds probably still have the hole that didn't close yet, and will close at some point during their first year. Has anyone else had experience with this? Should I get a second opinion now? Or just wait until she's a year, and request another echo to make sure it closed?
