tampon problems help needed!!

ok so i'm 14 and i've wanted to start using tampons bc honestly pads are the most uncomfortable things in the world! and so my last cycle i tried putting in a light tampon and i aimed at my back n stuff and i even used a mirror and all that stuff people say to do. but the problem is that i only got it in like not even 1/4 in and it started to hurt, kinda like really uncomfortably, like something was blocking it! what am i doing wrong ??
