Does the size and price of the ring matter?

I hear a lot of girls nowadays saying they want a big expensive diamond because the more he love you the more money he'll spend on it. I find this silly because I'd just want my proposal to be official.

The was an article I read that said the bigger the ring, the more likely you'll get divorced. I thought it was interesting. I guess you have to spend more to make up for the holes in the relationship

My ring isn't big and I'm not sure how much he paid for it but I could care less, it came from him and that's all that matters to me.

Our rings are made of carved bone from the same horn. No gems. They are beautiful and more symbolic from a religious stand point.

I have a 9k solar ring from my abusive ex and a 400 dollar ring from my amazing husband. The cheaper one means more because he took the time to buy something I like. And for 9k I would have rather had a lot of other things than a ring.

I think it depends on the situation. I think as long as it was heartfelt and personal I wouldn't care but if I was dating a guy that money wasn't an issue and he bought me some tiny cheap ring id be a little bothered. Not bc of the money but bc of the lack of effort.

I'm a musician with tiny hands. 
I'm so glad I married a fellow musician who knew me well! He made sure my ring was perfect for ME. Thin and practical, but still very gorgeous, he got me a wedding band rather than a bulky engagement ring when he proposed :) it still has stones, But they're set into the band so that it's not in the way. 
It was pricey, but that's his style. He likes having the best of everything, and that means he wants to give me the best as well. I'm happy to be engaged. The price has nothing to do with it.

My husband proposed with a 4 carat aquamarine surrounded by diamonds (I wanted a unique ring and love teal/blue). It was beautiful!!! (He got a great deal on it but its value is crazy) But I found it difficult to wear due to the size, and I was always afraid of losing it. I have since downsized and now my ring and wedding band are white and blue diamond with a total weight on 3/4 carat. I love it 10x's more!!! I now use my original ring as a special occasion ring ;)

I have only been proposed to once (we are no longer together) and he was messing around with multiple women on the side, but he got me a 5 carat ring. It was beautiful and very very expensive. I would have rather had a smaller ring and an honest man than a (I'm 24 and he is 40) man who just wanted a trophy.
