So I'm using this car seat for my newborn instead a carrier. Has anyone else used a car seat instead of a carrier? I find that carriers are to heavy for me to lug all around. Since I'm using this car seat am I going to have to buy an extra cushion?

We only used a car seat - and that one looks like it is padded enough. Depends if bubs is tiny or not, but check if the manufacturer makes a newborn insert as you aren't supposed to use other brand ones - it voids the warranty

It already has the infant insert. Don't ever use after market inserts. They are not safety tested and if you happen to get into an accident the insurance company may not cover the damages because of the use of after market products.

I would suggest baby wearing or getting a sling since you won't be using a carrier while shopping/out and about.

Looks just about like my Graco all in one. Carriers are too big for me to lug around too. I don't mind having to take my baby in and out

The only thing is that you have to hold your baby or wake it if it's sleeping since you can't just pick up the car seat.  It can be a hassle.  But if you're not worried about that then those are cool!

Some hospital will not let you leave if you do not have a carrier I suggest you call the hospital you will be delivering at.

It looks like it already has an infant insert in it. I have a graco 4ever. I'm not getting an infant seat. My back is bad and carrying/maneuvering a seat in/out of the car and/or carrying it will just destroy me.

I was totally of the same opinion and I technically still am but it depends on how much you plan to leave the house for errands in baby's early days. I was responsible for my best friend's baby shower and I got her a convertible car seat vs a carrier. We hung out a TON the first few months after her baby was born and we LOVED to get out of the house and just walk around stores. After the first maybe 6 hours of the in/out, in/out, her baby had had enough. He couldn't cope and was completely inconsolable. We ended up getting an infant carrier then and there. Long story I know, but basically if you plan to just stay home the first few months, the convertible is perfect. If, however you are an on the go mommy, you may want to think about the carrier. It's not so much trouble to pick it up to put it in the cart and then back to the car and you can find lighter ones. Good luck!

I'm not going to use an infant seat because I didn't like it with my first. I plan on buying a convertible seat and I wear my baby in a k-tan or Tula when out.

I ised one like this with my daughter who is 8 now and plan to do it with this one too. I never had an issue with getting her in or out while she slept, she either went riht back to sleep or never woke up. Made my  life easier and less of a hassle
