How do I know for sure a UTI is gone

So I got a UTI about a week ago and I did everything I could to get rid of it well besides actually going to the doctor, my boyfriends mom is a nurse so she gave me antibiotics (it was one 850 mg) and all the symptoms are gone. So does that mean it's completely gone or I still have it but with no symptoms
