What should I buy first

Question

So I'm 17 and almost 12 weeks pregnant, I'm not sure when to start shopping, what are the first things I should buy, and not sure how much I should spend, I don't want to be over spending or not spending enough, I'm not gonna be doing a registry cause I don't really understand how it works and I don't find it necessary, but I will be having a baby shower later on in my pregnancy, I'm just wondering when did all u star shopping and what were the first things u bought for the baby, I'm young and a first time mom so I have these kinda questions haha

The thing about a registry that I found helpful, other than the obvious thing of getting to pick what u want/need, is that it kept me from getting alot of multiples, and helped round out the things I got. But if u get multiples u can usually return them, it's just more work for u.  The most important things to buy are probably diapers, clothes (basic, not the entire layette department.  If u don't know the gender just buy white onesies and plain or neutral sleepers.) You definitely need bottles, unless u plan to exclusively breastfeed,  and even then a decent breast pump and a couple bottles can be a lifesaver. You need at least few blankets, a few burp cloths, and a ton of wipes;) a couple pacifiers never hurts either; ) then there is the whole bath thing.. I like the kitchen sink for bathing infants, and just a couple thick bath towels to pad the counter next to it to get them in and out. But u still need wash cloths and a towel, and baby soap and lotion. U will most likely get a lot of this stuff at your shower, I would wait on the clothes, diapers, wipes and bathing stuff until after my shower. The bigger things, like carseat,  breast pump, bottles, bed, etc, u will probably want to pick out yourself. If people ask what u want, have a list of things you've picked out ready to tell them. Even if u buy something b4 ur shower, if u get a second one u can always take it back. Man this is a long post. I got started thinking what do u really need for a baby n the list I'd kinda unending.  Don't let it overwhelm u tho, the thing babies need most is love, and it sounds like you've got that!

Personally I just got something once a week. Something small but significant! And def things you will need to have. Add the bigger stuff (bathtub, carseat; towels etc) to the registry! Have fun!

Pads for when you're post partum

If you are having a shower then I would do a registry. It helps the guest give an idea of what you need/want.

When you go to babies r us, target, buy buy buy, they have a list of "needed" items and how much you need of everything. It's helpful. You certainly don't need everything on the list and you can make adjustments, but it's a good starting point.

In order to get what you need first you will need to make a few decisions. Are you breastfeeding and pumping or formula feeding? You will need bottles. Where is baby going to be sleeping? In their own room or in yours? This means either a crib, bassinet, or maybe a pack and play. You will need a handful of blankets, towels, washcloths, burp cloths. You will absolutely need a car seat. This is where that list comes in handy.

My first items I purchased were onesies, bottles and bibs and I did that around 6 1/2 months.
