How long does you ewcm last??

I feel like I hear different things from different people. I think I ovulate a little early and my ewcm only lasts for about 1 day. Is this why I'm not getting pregnant?? Also, is having sex while ewcm is present the only time you can really get pregnant? What about the day before or day after? Since mine only lasts a day.
