Zika is in Florida now, cancel Disney plans?

The news just said that 4 people have been infected in Florida now. Worried about my trip next month, what would you do???

I honestly would cancel. Even though the local officials are saying its in a limited area. Disney ain't going anywhere.

Personally, I wouldn't go while pregnant. Places like disneyworld and other famous Disney parks are crawling with germs because people from all over the world and country visit them somthings like Zika are more risky there. But talk to your doctor?

It's only been in south FL Miami dade and broward counties.

It comes out during the day and is found close to standing water.  It does not travel long distances.

I cancelled my free trip to Florida in August just in case. If you do go, make sure to use bug spray, cover up, etc. they suspect 4 cases of Zika transmitted by mosquitoes in Miami 🙁

We don't have TV right now, so I've been checking the CDC website for info on Zika. As of July 27, they still had zero confirmed cases of locally-acquired Zika cases. On the news, are they saying the four cases in FL are locally-acquired?? Where are they getting their info if not the CDC?

We've canceled plans to see family in SoFla this summer, just because I'm a little worried about it (they are coming to us instead). I wouldn't blame you for NOT cancelling though, your chances of getting it are so low. Good luck with your decision,!

If you want me to be honest, my answer is no don't cancel for several reasons... One nothing has been confirmed... Not a single mosquito has tested positive... Two it was Miami not Orlando... Three even if it came from mosquitos there being bitten by a mosquito is actually quite easily avoidable between the use of various sprays and also just avoiding being outdoors at peak times... But do what makes you feel comfortable.

I'm going to the Gulf Coast of florida in late September and we aren't planning to cancel. That's outside of prime mosquito season. Right now it's located only in South florida

If you do cancel. Did you get travel insurance?  Or did you use American Express to book? Thave good policies for canceling travel. Get a doctors note to help validate canceling. Hope you get your $back.

Also something to consider is how far along you would be. No concrete info is known, but I've read some info suggesting you're most vulnerable in early pregnancy.

We are supposed to go to Miami in September and are on the fence, but I think it's localized to one area of northern Miami. Hopefully they can get it under control this week!
