If you have built a house, how long did it take?

We are building a home and we are 9 months in. Looks like it won't be done until November 😭 our builder sucks. How long did t take to build your home?

One year. I gave a very specific contract that stated anything left after one year would come from his pocket not mine. And I was out at the site randomly at least 3 times a week to bring refreshments and check up on the progress. I was a hard ass but in the nicest way possible to not piss off the contractor

I'm a surveyor and I can tell you it's totally possible to have a house built in 12 weeks, that's unlikely to happen on a small scale though. Keep on top of your contractor, be the most annoying part of his day, nag nag nag him, find out what's next,when it's arriving is anything holding stuff up are all the commissioning and connections booked in, when are building control next coming out. Seriously be the most cheerful pain in the ass you can

Our first built home was in a development and we just picked the lot and plan with little customizing and it took them 4 months tops to build it.

Our second was a private acreage and took 1.5 years. Weather plays a factor. And if you want any changes or upgrades during the construction.

Our house,m it took about 10-11 months We didn't  give them specific  things tho (like color, special cabinets, tile etc).  I was in school, getting  ready to graduate ,  and told the builder  what ever you think is best. (Crazy right, I know. I was in the middle of midterms  and planning my wedding  too. We got married the day after I graduated, then moved in the following  week!).

My in laws home took about a good year and maybe a few months.  They had several  "requests" of upgrades tho ie cabinets etc.  The month before both our  homes were done, it was like sticks and blocks only! They really do finish quick.  Hang in there. It's worth it!

Does it count if we're in the process, long at that, of saving up money to build? If so, 6 long years... We will get there one day

Took 4months to build our house. Did they give you a date that it should be done by in November? They usually would get you in by that date as they would need to pay money if it was delayed hope this helps xo

We built, it took a good while...10! Custom built homes are about 8-9... If you get a prefab, they can get it done much, much quicker like 4-7 months on average.
