Baby at a funeral?

A family friend recently passed and we are planning to go to the funeral this weekend. But it's a military funeral and i don't know how to handle/prepare my daughter for the guns that they shoot. Its also supposed to be balls hot so i dont want to put those giant ear muff head phone things on her. Has anyone had their babies around something like this?

I would maybe get a babysitter. I know it's a family friend, but I personally don't think it's an appropriate event to bring a baby to.

If you don't feel comfortable taking your baby to the funeral you could always skip the funeral and go visit the family later, maybe take food to their home where there is ac and no loud noises. You could just tell them you wanted to attend the funeral but didn't feel comfortable bringing your little one or leaving  your baby with a stranger. If I were in their shoes I would completely understand.

I used to perform at military funerals and every time after taps and they did the rifle shoot the director would warn the family members, but no one ever listened and baby's would start crying and car alarms would go off. Definitely not an event for a baby.

Would it be possible to just put the earmuffs on for the salute, then take them off? I don't think there's anything wrong with taking a baby to a funeral as long as you sit somewhere you can quickly exit if she cries.

Honestly I would not bring a baby to a funeral, especially one that will have gunshots and hot weather. I don't think I've ever been to a funeral where very young children were present but I know when my great grandmother died there were some arrangements made to have the small kids looked after during the funeral. I'm not sure if that's common though. Maybe look up reviews of daycare centers in the area that might do drop in care?
