I bought a Doppler off eBay for 35. Sonoline b. It's been amazing. Any time I feel anxious I just pull it out and check. At first I was finding my own heartbeat but it's actually not too tricky. And I'm plus size too!

I once downloaded a free app - to purchase or free, the way it works is the same. It simply records. I recorded a lot of tummy noises :)
The problem is that you will faster catch the sound of your own heartbeat and you might confuse it with babies' so you're not really listening to him/her...
I wouldn't spend $4.99 for the app.

I have but I have not found the baby heart beat yet but I am catch the baby moving some times it's just a really loud noise when it's moves

I bought it and it seriously didn't even come close to working. I paid $35 for a Doppler and I use it once a week to find baby's heartbeat. I wouldn't waste my money on the app.

I haven't used it but read some reviews that it didn't work at all. I am scared to try it because if I wasn't able to find the heartbeat it would freak me out more than just waiting to hear it at the doctor's visit
