Nipple shield!!

FTM. I started on the nipple but they got so raw and bloody so I tried the shield and loved it! It makes it more bearable but I'm worried that it will affect his latching because the shield nipple is bigger then my own I also don't want to depend on it. Anyone use one please share your opinions, pros, cons and experience. Thanks!
