Why are people so offended by the word cunt?

It honestly doesn't bother me. A cunt is  literally  defined as a woman's vagina. Therefore, it's basically the same as if you called a guy a dick.

My boyfriend says it a lot, never at me but instead of swearing, but I find it to just be a nasty word to say.
