Did talking about marriage ever lead anywhere?

My lovely boyfriend of seven months confessed recently that he sees us getting married. I'm 21 and he's 25, this is the first relationship I've ever been in (he's had several girlfriends but claims they weren't very serious) and I don't know what to expect. Has talking about marriage with your SO ever led anywhere or is it just speculation? Thanks in advance! 😚😚😚

My husband was in love with me long before we started dating. And I fall quick. So we were talking about marriage like two months in. Sometimes when you know you know! However, before my husband I had one serious boyfriend and we talked about getting married but it wasn't the same, it wasn't as deep. I don't know how to explain. If you love someone though, talking about marriage is a pretty natural progression of things.

I think in general it's important to talk about the future of a relationship when you've been with someone for a while. It's important to know that what you want for the future matches up. If he said he wants to get married one day, but you never want to get married, that should be a deal breaker. I personally think talking about those things after 6 months or more of dating is a good thing. You don't want to date someone for 2 years then find out they don't want the things you want like marriage and kids. If I were you a wouldn't expect him to propose tomorrow, but it's good to know that he is thinking about the future. My husband was my first real relationship. I was 23 almost 24 when we met  and he was 26 and turned 27 not long after we met. Just because it's your first relationship, doesn't mean it has to end. It could definitely lead to marriage, but I would give it more time.

It's led to us getting married. Lol we've been together 5 years. Known each other for at least 15 years. 1 year in and we knew we were getting married. Year 2 we were engaged and year 4 we were married and have been for a year. ;-)

To be perfectly honest it's not unusual for people, especially young people to say marriage related things in the infatuation period of a relationship (which you are in ... Think first year or two). I've been in many long term relationships and I've had 5 guys express an interest in getting married ... And that's not including my current partner who I've been with for 5 years and have a 3 year old with.

Yeah. We alluded to marriage about 4 months  in, at 10 months in he said he saw himself marrying me, and then at a little over 3 years he told me to send him rings he liked, and at 3 3/4 years he proposed.

I think he is probably just seeing how you feel about your future. He is older than you and knows what he wants. It is normal for him to talk about it I think, he probably doesn't want to waste any time.
