Counting contractions??

Question

What's the best way to count contractions? I'm not exactly sure how to do it and I want to be prepared when they're the real contractions.

You time from the beginning of one to the beginning of the next one.

I have not tried it myself so cannot vouch for accuracy but seems easy enough to use.

I use an app called full term. It keeps track of duration and frequency and will alert you when you reach a certain pattern.

The apps are the best. But if you just want to write it down-you should have 3-4 columns on paper. when contraction starts write down that time- (when the period like cramping starts). Then write down time when the pain goes away. And the. Write down time when the next contraction starts. That way you can see how long each contraction lasts and how far apart they are. Ex: contraction starts at 12:00:00 pm ends at 12:01:15 and next one starts at 12:10:15contractions are 1min 15 sec and 10 min apart

There are contraction timer apps you can get for your phone. Play around with a few of them and choose the one which is easiest for you.

They all do the same thing but will more easily calculate the intervals than writing times on a piece of paper.

Some of the apps are even clever enough that they will indicate if you are in labor based on the frequency.
