When to start planning?

I asked my mom when to have a baby shower and she said you normally have it closer to the end of the pregnancy so I was wondering when do I start planning and inviting people to the baby shower??  I'm due May 18th and I'm 17 weeks today with my first baby boy!!!?

I was going to do it when I'm 6 months, but that's only because I'm traveling halfway across the country for it.

My first son, my baby shower was 4 days before I had him. He was 4 weeks early though. My second was about 2 weeks before and he was 5 weeks early. This one I don't know yet. I won't do it too late though, so if it does come early I can go to my own baby shower.

I'm going to be 7 months at my shower. I want it to be early enough that I can get the car seat in and buy extra stuff that I didn't get.

I will be 36 weeks tomorrow and I just had my shower yesterday. This is my second baby. When I sent out invites I sent them out about a month before the shower date so people would have enough time to RSVP and to not be so rushed!! And got forget to register some where it will help your guest and it will eleminate a lot of doubles. Have fun and congrats!

I was 32 weeks with my son when we had his baby shower. And I'm so glad I did!! Everyone thought it was too early but I was due 1/13/11 so with the holidays it had to be early. And ICING ON THE CAKE.. I was on bed rest for high blood pressure at 36 weeks and had him at 37weeks on 12/23. Good thing I had his shower when I did or I wouldn't have been remotely prepared.

I didn't have my baby shower until I was 8 months pregnant.... I think I sent the invites out a month prior, with 3 weeks to RSVP
