Too many ultrasounds harmful?

Question

Did anyone else pay or is going to pay to find out the gender early thru an ultrasound?

Also I just had a first look ultrasound at 12 weeks for genetic screenings but won't get another till 20.

Thinking about paying at 16 weeks to find out a little early. Can three ultrasounds in a row be harmful to the baby?

I've had a scan at 6 weeks 9 weeks and 11 got one next week at 13 and my gender at 16 and another at 20 I'm being closely monitored by hospital so they just be ok with it as there the ones who have been giving me all there scans

No I don't think an extra ultrasound will do any harm. That said, I would personally just wait for the 20 week scan.

I know a few people scanned every month due to being high risk. I'm doing an early gender scan too (if they guess wrong, oh well I still get to see my little munchkin and I don't plan on running out to buy pink or blue anything for awhile still)  I figure if a high risk person can get an ultrasound every month, it won't hurt to have one extra scan for me.

Not at all. I am carrying twins and the twin pregnancy protocol has me getting an u/s just about every week my entire pregnancy! My jaw almost hit the floor when the doctor explained all of that to me today.

A friend of mine was overweight and had to have an ultrasound with every checkup for measurements.

This is my 3rd pregnancy. I have an ultrasound at every appointment. That's just how my midwife does it and how she gets her measurements. I can refuse if I want to but I don't, I love seeing my babies! My children are healthy and I don't believe my midwife would do ultrasounds every time if it was potentially harmful, she is very cautious with her patients. The ultrasounds are usual not long since we are essentially just "checking in" on the baby. I, personally, would be comfortable with getting a 16 week ultrasound.

I think waiting until 20 weeks will give you a clearer answer on the gender. 16 might still be unclear and then you have paid for nothing. I would like to know too but i have to wait until 21 weeks. Its ok, im focussing on the ways all babies are babies and for the first months of life need the same things anyway. Im making and buying gender nuetral clothes.

I was thinking this too my next scans Sep 21 I had my first one August 2nd was gna book one for the ending of August but decided just to wait till my scan with the hospital

You can get blood tests to find out the gender. I found out from tests I had at 11 weeks
