Is it odd?

So my baby shower is this Sunday, I've had a few things bought off my registry( like 4 ) but it also shows what other Things people bought for me.... So I had selected a certain brand of baby shampoo I wanted to use. Instead someone bought me a different brand that was the same price?! Isn't that odd? Also I chose specific bottles and someone got me different bottles that were actually a dollar difference. I don't understand what's the point of picking something out and people get you something else, I could understand if maybe it was cheaper but the thing is... It's not . I'm still very grateful that people are getting me things. It's obviously not an obligation, I'm just confused because I thought registries are for you to look at when you buy stuff for people. I myself always get what's on people's registry. I'm a ftm so I'm just curious of this happens to everyone?

The only logical thing I could think of is they couldn't find the same one. Still, annoying. I found that writing a note about baby having enough clothes helps you get your big items. my shower is on Sunday at 72 items were purchased off the registry! We had to buy the crib, but a close family friend heard about that and ended up giving us a gift card for the amount of the crib!

That has been driving me crazy too. I would just exchange it but it's annoying to have a specific thing you chose and someone else gets you a completely different kind. My mother in law keeps buying stuff that's just not necessary ans hasn't bought anything off my registry that we actually need. I don't need anymore newborn clothes since this little guy would probably wear it once and out grow it in a week or anymore picture frames, I need bottles and blankets and a bottle warmer and dryer . . . Err. I feel like a brat for complaining when I should be grateful but it keeps happening and it's annoying. Sorry for the rant but I totally get where you're coming from.

I was fortunate to have had about 45 items purchased off of my registry. People chose to buy the brands I wanted of everything (diapers, wipes, bottles, shampoos, etc). We were very fortunate and extremely greatful for all we received. The only issue we ran into was too many newborn clothes. I have to exchange them (which is no big deal) because they think our little girl will be between 10-12lbs!

My sister had the same problem though. Everyone bought tons of clothes and no necessities and bought their preference in brands versus what she asked for.

I find that people tend to buy whatever brand they like or have experience with. It can be really frustrating...especially when you've researched and chosen what you want. As other people have said, I would just exchange it after you get it. Though for something like bottles it might be a good idea to have a few different types so that baby can basically pick which one they prefer. We did 2 different types of bottles on our registry for this reason.

That is weird! I expect people will get things not on my registry, but to buy a different brand of the same item that is on your registry? That's just strange.

Could they have been buying themselves something at the same time and paid for it all together? That's odd the store would do that.

I agree with posters who have said many people buy brands/things they use/have experience with/are familiar to them. Also if they don't have experience with a registry they may have just went into the store, not even inquired about your registry and bought the items they wanted for you, hence not getting the brands you wanted. definitely keep track so you can return them for what you want afterwards 😀

Maybe the brand you wanted was out of stock at the time. Idk. I'm still trying to figure that out too! It happened to me.
