Tampon Sensitivity?

Question

Does anyone else ever experience months where they're too sensitive to use a tampon?  This happens to me often, so despite having a heavy flow I have to wear pads. Does anyone know what causes it or if I should go see an OB/GYN about it?

I personally can't use tampons at all. They intensify my already horrid cramps.
