Anybody have a ganglion cyst?

I have one on my wrist for years now maybe 4 years last night my whole entire wrist is hurting me. I'm losing feeling in my fingers from the pain. Anybody suffer from this? If so did it hurt? Did you have any complications?how did you remove it?

I'm at the emergency room (I know not really an emergency but the pain is so uncomfortable)

I had one on the back of my wrist for about a year, when it started hurting I went to the doctor. He said they can
-surgically remove it and it would have a <4% chance of coming back
-drain it with a needle and it has a 15-20% chance of coming back.
-smash it with a really heavy book, which is a lot cheaper but also has a 15-20% chance of returning and it hurts a lot.

I chose the surgery option. They fully sedate you because they can't risk you moving the wrist at all during surgery, then I had a 10-14 day recovery time where I couldn't really use my hand (I'm a chef) but I got the surgery in Jan 2015 and it hasn't come back yet, and this is what my scar looks like now.

I have one on the back of my hand that comes and goes. One time I tried the old wives tale where you have someone slam a book down on top of it- don't try that. It did go away for like a year but it came back.

I didn't, but several of my family members did. My mom had hers surgically removed, and my grandmother's doctors literally had hers smashed by the doctor's Bible, because it was the heaviest book in the office, and he wanted to make it burst.

I'd go with option A.

I actually had one on my palm and oddly enough acupuncture got rid of mine! But if you are in an immense amount of pain and they need to surgically remove that obviously do what your doctors suggest! Good luck!

I had one when I was a masseuse, I couldn't even hold a cup of tea, I was on a wait list to have it removed and stopped doing massages and it ended up going away on it's own
