Thoughts on acrylics??

I've been wanting to get acrylic nails for a few months now but my mom says it takes a lot of work between expenses and how they damage your nails. I'm 17 and most of the girls in my grade have them, I just think they look so pretty! I have kind of weak nails so I'm not sure how damaged they would become but what are your experiences with acrylics?!?!? I really want to do research and get opinions before I make a decision.

Acrylics will weaken your nails even more I recommend just getting something at Walmart or cvs to strengthen your nails like nail strengther and get a growth formula I bought both at cvs or get gel nails they're less harmful

I have acrylics and I love them!! depending where you go, an acrylic fill (you get every 2-3 weeks) can cost $18-$25. The first set you get can cost up to $40! but call around the nail places and ask for prices. when you take them off your natural nails are very flimsy and bend suuuper easy, so be prepared for that.

I get them for special occasions. It can be expensive (like 30+) depending where you get them at and you want to make sure you get them at a good place because it can really mess up your nails. 
Taking them off is a bitch and it really does basically destroy your natural nail but nothing that's irreparable. I got some beginning of June and even after using some special remover they got messed up. They're finally getting normal again now. However if you out some hard as nails polish on them and healthy grow polish it helps.

Typically you have to get them refilled about every 2 weeks so it does get expensive i also think they make my fingers sore but they destroy your nails... They make them basically tissue paper thin and flakey i had acrylics in april or may (took them off when they started falling off like a week and a half later) and my nails still have to be clipped super short otherwise theyll bend and hurt or break so unless your willing to pay for them to be refilled every 2 weeks i wouldnt get them just get a gel manicure
