Painting the Crib?

So my sister is giving me the Crib my niece used when she was a baby. (My niece now 3 yrs old). Wanted to know if its ok to paint the Crib now. ( now I'm 26 weeks) and my husband will paint it, so I won't be touching anything like that. .. or is it not safe to paint the crib, will it be toxic when baby gets here (Nov 10).... I'm just wanting to remodel the Crib make it nice .... ?

I agree with all these ladies. But I'd definitely make sure when ur child I old enough to stand the they are not chewing on the paint. Regardless of if it's non-toxic.  I only say this because I've seen paint get wet and peal.

As long as you use water based paint, it's fine. I painted mine using chalk paint because it's water based and it came out beautifully

Totally fine! My boyfriend is a painter and refinished all our nursery furniture. I'm 30 weeks and he is just finishing up the changing table this week. The fumes wear off the furniture after a couple weeks. Just keep the room ventilated.

Don't use oil based &lead paint can result in a m/c. Latex/acrylic paints are okay just make sure to be in a ventilated area n take breaks if feeling light headed. I'll be using paint by Glidden in the Disney collection bc I kno it will be safer for the baby later on.

Look up paint that is safe for them if they chew on it. We are painting ours. Well I am.  She works to much. But I'm only 25W1D so I have time.

When I was a military wife and lived on post almost everyone young with new babies would inherite or trade cribs and nursery furniture so they would always paint it. All their children are preteens now and perfectly healthy.
