Progesterone in Oil injections - tips/advice?

I'm terrified of needles.  I thought Gonal and Menopur were scary as heck.  But after seeing how big the needles for PIO, I think I might pass out.  They are HUGE! DH has been giving me the injections, so I'm very grateful for that. But we start PIO next week, he's nervous, I'm nervous - not good all around. Any tips or advice?

Here's my routine.. I do my morning ones by myself and DH does my evening ones. Good luck!!

I heat up a rice bag heat pack in the microwave and place the bottle of progesterone on top of the bag for about 5 min to heat up the oil. I get my injection ready, and lay on my stomach. Hubby firmly grabs the area, puts in needle in with a little bit of force (nothing is worse than putting it in to slow, and not having the skin pierce right away 😥) , checks for blood to make sure he hasn't hit a vessel or vein, and injects the oil. Afterwards, i lay on the ground and DH gives me a deep tissue massage with his foot 😂 and I mean DEEP tissue... You really have to work it in so the progesterone can spread. I do not ice, as I feel that he's unnecessary and didn't help at all. I just used a heat pad as much as I could and also always had my car seat warmers on.

I have tried it without ice and it was so painful to me I sobbed. I have found icing the are until it is numb works. I barely feel the stick. My husband rubs the area afterwards or use a heating pad.

I'm so sorry. I remember that. I did those everyday for weeks and I had soooo many bruises on my butt. It helps me to watch the needle go in but idk if that would help you...

Ice the area for about 5-10 mins before and you'll barely even feel it

Hi. First I want to say that I know the route of IVF is difficult and I'm sorry that you have to go through it too..And I, like you, am terrified of needles. With the PIO I found ice to be the best and least painful. It really wasn't bad after really icing your bottom for a bit until it is numb. Massaging the area will help from it being sore too. I got prescription lidocaine from my doctor. My husband gave me the shots too.

It does not go directly into your asscheek- just throwing that out there, it goes more into the love handle area.

Ask for numbing cream- or use ice like someone else suggested. Make sure to always aspirate the needle, make sure there is resistance and no blood enters the syringe.

I've had to take over 100 POI injections from my 3 IVFs. Not fun sister.

Honestly it's scarier than it feels. They say to use ice but that actually was less comfortable for me. Try it one with ice and one without. Hold the skin tight and jab it through the skin quickly, then push it the rest of the way in. Then pull out on the plunger to make sure it's not in a blood vessel before SLOWLY pressing down on the plunger. Be ready to bleed after but really, not a big deal. The pain is minimal compared to your future contractions!

I've read a few things....keeping the bottle of progesterone in your bra to warm up the oil so it goes in smoother...icing the area before(but this could make the shot worse because of the oil)...heat pad on site after...and laying on belly with toes pointed in to relax the muscle more 
I was dreading that shot too but my fresh transfer turned into waiting 2 months and doing a frozen transfer so I got off this time
