Will you get the Tdap vaccine?

I have heard very good and very bad things... Just want other mommies input. I am very pro-vaccine but vaccines during pregnancy kind of worries me.

The vaccine isn't for you. It gives antibodies to your baby because they're not protected for the first two months of their lives.

Google a video of a baby with whooping cough. If that doesn't change your mind, nothing will. It's scary. I'd never risk my child catching whooping cough.

110% anyone who doesn't get it is very very silly! I had it as an adult and it chocked me on a daily basis I would cough till I couldn't breath and turn blue along with being sick every day for 5 months it was the worst experience of my life and the thought of what it can do to a baby is horrifying! Please get it to protect yourself and the baby I only wish I would have had mine as a baby as i wouldn't have had to experience near death on several occasions X

I just got mine today. My midwife told me they really recommend it because it will cross the placenta and protect your baby before they can get vaccinated. Whooping cough is a very deadly thing for newborns.

I can't get it. I had a severe reaction when I was younger. Even if I could, I would have waited until she was born just because I wouldn't want to risk anything while she is still in there.

I believe my husband and the grandparents are still getting it, but I'm terrified of when she actually gets her shots.

I got it with my last pregnancy, didn't think anything of it.  Which is odd for me, but my last one was a out 5 years old.  However, I have been doing research this time and have concerns.  While nothing happened last time, it was only 2 years ago and it is considered a Class C drug.  Typically, they shy away from Class C drugs during you pregnancy.  So since my last vaccine is 2 years old I am going to decline...but grandparents and dad will be asked to update.

My nephew had whooping cough. It was one of the scariest things I've ever had to deal with. He would get choked so bad he would turn purple and quit breathing. You would have to flip him upside down and literally beat his back to help him get his airway cleared! He had so many bruises from it. It took almost a year before we didn't have to have him beside our bed at night to make sure she was breathing all night.

Yes I got my vaccination. I don't want my son to ever have to go through that! I'm also telling anyone who wants to visit after he's home they have to have their vaccination. Anyone in my family will understand and not argue.
