Anyone been thru IVF?

Question

Looking to hear about your IVF experience...as many details as possible (meds, procedure, appointments, etc) would be nice. I will be starting the IVF process once AF shows up in a week or two so anything you can tell me would be great...anything I need to ask and make sure my RE is on top of?

So my doc office is saying I need to do an enema tonight before my retrieval tomorrow...is this really necessary? None of the people I know that have gone thru IVF had to so this but it's standard protocol for them?

Hi ladies. I went through 2 rounds of ivf to conceive #1. I had to go through the entire ICSI procedure. I had the pill, nasal spray, injections, trigger then egg pick up, fertilisation and transfer. The first round, I had 6 eggs removed and none of them actually fertilised. I had been to see a naturopath/Chinese herbalist also who had told me not to let them do egg pick up until the smallest follicle measured 18mm. I didn't really listen. The next time, they wanted me to give the trigger when the follicles were 16mm, I asked to wait one more day and I one more injection...they got to 18mm and slightly bigger. I had 5 eggs removed. All fertilised and were what they determined to be of he highest grade/quality and my first embryo transfer was successful. It was a long process but so worth it in the end. Good luck to all of you!

Had my post BCP check up today. No cysts and lab work was good so I start injections on Saturday! :) how are you ladies doing?

Hi ladies. I hope you don't mind me joining this thread. We'll be starting IVF in about 3 weeks. I'm having a laparoscopy in the 21 May for endo and AF is due the following day. I'll start IVF meds as soon as AF arrives and the egg collection will happen around the first week of July.

​Within the next few weeks we'll have counselling, because it's a requirement that we have 1 session with the fertility counsellor before we start.

​I'll start the pill first for 2 weeks, then the nasal spray, injections and then the trigger shot - but as to what these meds are, the doses or timelines I've got no idea.

​I'm interested to find out as much as possible about the IVF process because I really don't know a lot.

​I only know what 2 of these things do, looks like it's a google kind of night. I don't have my "practice run" and all that until next Thursday. Looking like my egg retrieval will be around June 12! Eek!
