Adoption - Illinois?

Question

Wondering if anyone has any experience with adoptions in Illinois, or well, anywhere? My husband and I would love to explore the idea of loving a baby that isn't biologically ours and I have NO idea where to start. I know that I can google info - but want personal experiences :) thanks!

Start by going to your local child services building or adoption agency those can be found in a phone book or online and go from there

My personal experience has so far been to check online. Do you want newborn or an older child? I've been taking with my husband about it and we have somewhat come up with going through a private agency which is more exspensive. Call a few places you find and ask them whatever questions you do have and I'm sure they will answer them. If not move onto the next one (but I cant see why they wouldn't answer them.) We are in Missouri so my nearest adoption place is about 2 hours away in Lake of the Ozarks I believe. There is one in Joplin but they require you to go to their church before and after adopting a child from them and if you have a different denomination from them they look down upon you. But it is a church run "orphanage" so they can be extra picky.
