D&C experiences...?

I found out on Tuesday that our baby stopped growing and no longer has a heartbeat. We are devistated. I'm most likely going to be having a D&C next week and wanted to know what experiences anyone else has had with this procedure. Where you in pain afterwards? Have you had a successful pregnancy since then? I'm very nervous and just hoping to move forward and continue trying to start our family.

I had a d&c December 22. I was very anxious about the procedure but it went fine. I was put under and woke up in recovery knowing what happened but not in any physical pain. I had very minor cramping then next day and minor bleeding but the cramps were much less than period cramps. The bleeding lasted about 5-6 days and the cramping basically stopped after the second day. I didn't even need the meds the doc gave me. My next period came 31 days later (completely normal since I have a 31 day cycle) the cramps the first day were horrendous! I needed those pain meds and certainly used them! After the first day, cramping was normal for my period and bleeding the whole period was normal for me too. I conceived again in April and am currently 19 weeks pregnant today 😊

I just had a D&C Monday. I was a nervous wreck as I have never had surgery before. They had me undress, take out all my jewelry, etc. then they took me back to the OR where I had to move over onto a small small, hard bed. They strapped me in around my waist and that's when they put the mask over my face to put me to sleep. Next thing I woke up in the recovery room, and began to bawl my eyes out as reality hit me. They Give you medication through an IV that makes you cramp, so you wake up in pain. But they gave you pain meds after you ask for them. I was groggy, but still crying. They brought me back to my room about 45 minutes after I woke up. I got dressed and went home. I slept most of Monday away. Tuesday I felt like I had been hit by a truck, but apparently that's normal as the anesthesia wears off. I started back to work Tuesday. So I haven't been able to heal emotionally or physically. I am still bleeding lightly. Buy pads and take off work. This hurts more mentally. I am sorry for your loss.

First off I'm sorry for your loss. Our first loss was a missed miscarriage at 6 weeks baby's heart stopped beating. I had a D&C a couple weeks later. The procedure it self I was awake for they gave me some medicine to sedate me a little I didn't feel much except a lot of pressure and pulling. After not a whole lot of pain just period like cramps for a day. The bleeding was very heavy that day slowed down for a few days. And picked up again for about a week and half. That was in Feb we ended up convicting again in April lost that due to low progesterone and now I am pregnant again! Your def more fertile afterwards.

I had a d&c at 12 weeks. I had a missed miscarriage, and I was afraid of how long it would have taken for my body to pass it on its own. I had a good experience  (well, as good as can be expected) and my nurses cried with me. No issues and minimal pain afterwards, easily controlled by the meds they gave me.

I've had three miscarriages. The 1st I had a d&c and the other two were natural.  I personally think my body recovered more quickly from the natural miscarriages.  I am sorry for your loss.

The same thing happened to me just this past week, had a D&E this past Monday, (not a D&C). Was supposed to be 8 weeks, baby stopped growing at 6 weeks. I felt alot better having it done than letting it happen naturally, just to avoid possible infection if anything happened! I have had a little cramping, and stopped bleeding, more like spotting, yesterday.

I had a d&c in June, but also had a chemical pregnancies last year. The d&c was brilliant had no pain and hardly bleeding after. And they really looked after me. X

I had one yesterday. It was painless. I went to my dr's office and they hooked me up to an IV. The dr talked to me before then nurse gave me some pain meds and what she said would make me sleepy/groggy but I was passed out and didn't wake up until after everything was done. I woke up with my husband and nurse there. Didn't feel any pain after and had some bleeding on that day but very light. Today I haven't had anything. Hoping it stays this way and I can continue to heal. Make sure to get lots of rest and let your loved one take care of you. They told me if you try to do too much too soon even though you feel good, you will start to bleed again. Good luck to you and I'm so sorry for your loss. Future baby dust to you.

I had a D&C in March. The only painful part was when the dilated my cervix as my body didn't want to let go of my sweet baby. I had cramping afterwards, but it was managed with a heating pad at home.

I had a chemical pregnancy in April and July. And now I'm 8dpo month 5 of TTC after losing my baby.

I had one, 1 week ago. I hardly bled, no pain or cramping. I feel good. Waiting for AF to come back then trying again.
