Any may moms start spoon feeding yet?

My son will be 3 months this weekend . He was born 10lbs and started off eating twice as much as "normal" babies at the hospital. He doesn't seem to want to drink as much this week, and is constantly chewing on hands and toys. I think he's ready to start on some cereal, just wanted to see if any other moms decided to start a little early too.

Yeah... No. No food until at least 6 months. They don't even have the gut enzymes to digest food till around then. Idk why people are so fast to give food! Babies suck hands.. It's not a sign they need food

My son is turning 3 months on the 20th of August and I want to try giving him a tablespoon of oatmeal every once in awhile. He seems to be a little more ahead of schedule with everything so I am confident he will take to it well. Idk why mommas nowadays are so afraid to try things. It's live and learn and knowing YOUR baby. I understand the recommendations, but at the same time our own mommies did these things with us and didn't follow all these "rules" or recommendations they have now and we all came out just fine! It's doing what you feel comfortable doing. I don't think there is a right or wrong. If it works for you and your LO then go for it and if not then that is ok too!

I'm not in any hurry for that. Im gonna wait until as close to six months as possible. Plus, when they start real food the poop gets horrible. No thanks. I'm gonna savor this milk only time. 😜

I find it interesting the difference in advice in UK vs US and elsewhere. They don't recommend weaning until 6 months here as baby's gut isn't developed enough. Babies go though massive developmental leaps at 3 months which cause increase hunger and they often discover their hands and tongue (hencing chewing) which can be confused for hunger. My baby is breastfed only and is feeding again this week like a newborn but is on the 95th percentile for weight. I was told she is upping my supply in volume but also calorie content ready for the growth spurt and it is nothing to worry about. I would be interested to know the amount of calories in baby rice/oats etc vs milk/formula as I know purees babies first start off on are less than half the calories of milk, so a myth about them being fuller on them.

As soon as she can sit up straight in her bumbo she starts spoon feeding. :) probly about 3.5months

Pediatrician said we'd discuss starting some solids during our 4 month appointment, so I'm hoping we can begin then. I'm eager ☺️

14 weeks here and we tried today! Super cute!! Anyhoo, like another mother mentioned when mine can hold up in a bumbo or sit me up I start cereal. This is my third and I've done this with my other babes and they are fine and healthy. So it's kinda driving me crazy the changing of all the rules and what's best blah blah blah...oh and I give him his tiny bit of cereal after he nurses.

I'm glad you asked this I been wondering the same thing. My baby is  3 1/2months(will be 4mos September 4th) I do give her the oatmeal  an now I'm increasing her milk from 4oz  to 5-6oz to she if she tolerate it but she still acts hungry

My daughter just turned 3 months Tuesday..she was born 9lbs and has seemed to not be full from just her formula lately so I started spoon feeding her oatmeal baby cereal (rice cereal can cause constipation) and she is SO much happier,naps longer,and spits up less :) she is my 4th child and I started them all about 3-4 months with cereal. Hope this helps :)
