Mamas that BF -When did your LO start sleeping through the night? How did you do it?

His doc said he should be by 2 months. Is there anything I can do now to help him adjust to sleeping more at night? I'm so tired. I want to sleep in bed with my husband but baby prefers on my chest in living room. It makes me nervous having him on my chest. I want him to sleep in his bassinet next to me . Sleeping through the night for a baby is 5 hours. That's def not to much to ask

My kid is 8 months. Still wakes up. And he's still perfect.

My daughter is 7 weeks and will go anywhere from 2-4 hours (roughly. Depends on the night. One time she went 5 hours.. Once. On occasion she'll do 3 and a half hours. But generally it's every 2 hours and 45 minutes. They have tiny little tummys and can't hold that much food. Just gotta be patient

Breast milk digests faster than formula, so baby will wake when they're hungry. My son is 11 months old and still wakes once in the night to eat. If somebody told me that at 2 months I probably would have cried, but it does get easier. Swaddling helped my little one sleep better alone, also I would leave the shirt I wore that day next to him. Now when he wakes, my husband gets him from his room, baby latches on and we all go back to sleep. 
Remember that doctors are not there to give parenting advise. Mine mentioned sleeping all night at 3 months, and was suprised at 6 months that I was still breastfeeding. She takes care of my child's health and I don't worry about the rest.

Start transitioning your LO into the bassinet for naps etc! Also the sooner you start a bed time routine the better! Your little one will feel safe with routines. We always do bath time (every two days), lotion rub down, Jammies, bottle or boob, bed. Once she's in her crib we don't pick her back up unless she's having a fit. If she gets upset we just soothe her with a paci or sometimes just putting my hand on her chest calms her down and she'd fall back asleep. My LO will be 3 months this Sunday and she's been sleeping in her own crib since 6 weeks and sleeping through the night since 8 weeks. It was hard to stick to it. I would just want to pick her up and bring her in the bed with us. But now she sleeps best in her crib and we sleep better now too!

Wtf?? 2 months?!? You need a new doctor. That isn't even close to developmentally appropriate. Here is some info from just 1 study of 6 month olds. Over 80% aren't sleeping through the night. That's normal. 
As for sleeping arrangements. I cosleep. It works well for me. I have a pack n play to put baby girl in by the bed sometimes. The majority of the time she sleeps with us. I've done this with all 4 of my kids and it's worked well. What I tend to do when I want or need baby on their own is to nurse them down as usual and put them in the pack n play till they wake to nurse again. I've never once let a baby cry it out. My older kids are not spoiled and are great sleepers and are not still in my bed. (Just saying that because someone tends to say it's a huge mistake, will spoil them, and they will never leave your bed. Not true) 
I truly think most baby sleep issues are totally non issues. Parents just seem to expect babies to sleep like adults and they aren't supposed to.
