Do you think mothers should get maternity leave?

I feel like women should have at least 6 months paid. I can't imagine leaving my baby at 3 months. The father should also get paid time off, not necessarily 6 months but way more than what some get now. Some don't get anything. I say 2-4 months for fathers

YES! What other developed country treats their people so poorly when it comes to this issue? My husband and I moved to Canaa last year (he is Canadian) and I am so grateful for the year leave I am going to get. It is also a paid leave (7 months will be 93% of my income due to my employer topping it up, and 5 months paid solely by the government). There are also laws in place that your position has to be there for you when your year is over, if it was not it would be considered discrimination. Canada (and Eiropean countries!) know what's up.

women can get up to a year where I'm from which is great I think, men get 2 weeks which I think is appalling

In Australia, you get maternity leave and parental leave. Parental leave includes fathers. So either parent can take leave when a child is born.

Both parents should. I'm not sure if a year is neccessary though. I say 12 weeks paid sounds good to me.

I believe parents should get like they do in Canada and other countries that have paid maternity and paternity leave.

I forget where it but there is a country where women get 2 or 3 years paid leave and the father gets a year paid leave, which can be split however they want.
