So I'm living alone this year at school off campus. I'm super excited but kind of nervous because the area is in Philadelphia and I'm very close to a not so good area. I'm on the second floor and to the left of my bedroom window is a sort of balcony (but it's below my room not really a balcony to my room but more of the level between second and first floor) & you can easily climb through the window onto the balcony and hop up into my bedroom window and smash it or whatever and rob me or something.

I asked the building owners if they'll put bars on the windows but they said they only do that for the first floor. And we have key fobs to get into the building but everyone knows that people just let other people they don't know into the building. They also said police patrol the area a lot and there are cameras.

I'm still nervous though . Does anyone have tips or anything that I can do to ensure my safety ?
