"It was meant to be?"

I hear this phrase used a lot. For example, when ppl have kids or when ppl get in trouble, etc...they always use the phrase "it was meant to be" or "I wouldn't have went through it if it wasn't meant"...I just don't think that everything was meant to be. I think sometimes ppl do things that create consequences so therefore thier situation "has to be" because they've done (whatever it was) so they just deal with it and use that phrase. What do you think??
