Contractions before water breaking?

Do you usually get contractions before? Or can the water just break with no contractions or any warning?

Everyone is different it's actually not super common for your water to break. You may be in labor for a long time before it actually breaks. The only way to tell if you're going into labor is timing your contractions and getting your cervix checked.

With my oldest 2, my water broke with no signs. I'm pregnant with #3 and am still unsure what a real contraction feels like thanks to the immediate introduction of pain meds at the hospital.

My water broke first (while I was asleep) it actually woke me up! and started getting contractions 2 hours later.

My water didn't break until I was 10cm and pushing with my son. They broke it at 7cm with my daughter. I always have contractions first but everyone is different so you never know.

My water broke on the table I guess. I didn't feel it Because of the epidural. I got hit sideways with strong contractions out of no where.
